Ken has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER Professional since 1992 and has more than thirty-five years of experience as a financial advisor.  Ken’s passion is assisting clients in making financial decisions that will improve their lives. These may include singular issues identified by the client such as retirement planning or investment decisions, or more in-depth discussions that might uncover issues not already recognized by the client. 

A native of Corpus Christi, Ken earned a Master of Science Degree, Personal Financial Planning Major, from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado and a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of North Texas in 1978 with a double major in Trumpet and Piano.

Ken is a former member of the Board of the Texas State Aquarium, former Board member of Coastal Bend Community Foundation, Past President of the Board of the Corpus Christi Symphony, and Past Chair of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi President's Council. He is also a Charter member of South Coast Angel Network providing funding to innovative entrepreneurs. 

Until 2003, Ken performed as Principal Trumpet over 20 years with the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra. He also performed in Dallas and Corpus Christi, playing lead trumpet for artists including Natalie Cole, the Ice Capades, Doc Severinson, and others. 

Ken is married to Laurel, and together, they have four awesome adult children with their spouses and six wonderful grandchildren. His daughter, Jessica Wesley is in Human Resources for M D Anderson in Houston, and her husband, David Wesley, Purchasing Manager, The Colt Group; stepsons include Chris Lain, owner of Pinnacle Tattoo, and his wife, Tina Lain, owner of Gold Dust Cosmetic Collective; Casey Lain, owner of House of Rock, and his wife, Adrianne Lain, Senior Analyst-Region Finance Officer for United Rentals; and Aaron Lain, who lives in Nashville and is the live sound engineer for country music artist, Morgan Wallen. Ken’s hobbies and interests include travel in the US and overseas, racing Porsches and Corvettes, composing music, performing on trumpet and piano, and many outdoor activities at this second home near Breckenridge, Colorado including off-road jeeping, hiking, golfing, kayaking, and river rafting.
